We travelled to Seattle to join the Seattle Event Driven community meetup and talk Event Modeling. Over an evening we covered the first steps in designing, building, and securing an information system. Adam spoke at length about the advantages of this way of thinking about event sourced systems, and facilitated some great discussions afterward.
James Nugent (Co-Founder and Chief Architect at Event Store) co presented and talked about RAFT consensus algorithm, showing how the distributed log is essentially an event driven pattern. Although, distributed consensus algorithms are considered highly technical subjects, he shared some glimpses at code for one of the most popular opensource RAFT implementations, the Hashicorp RAFT library.
Overall it was great to see so such a great turnout, and exciting to see the Seattle developer community embracing Event Sourcing. Stay tuned for the next meetup!
